Our goal for Art in City Hall is to provide a public venue to raise awareness of the visual arts and to give artists an opportunity to show their work and to connect with members of our community.
Prospect Mayor Doug Farnsley’s sister, Ann Farnsley, was a professional artist. Ann moved to Vevay, Indiana, in 1970, and became a committed and active member of that sophisticated, small river town. Ann and her life served as the inspiration for Art in City Hall.

Ann was a professional artist, raised in Louisville, where she earned her master of Arts in Creative Art from the Allen R. Hite Art institute. She opened a studio in Vevay, Indiana where her creative media expanded from painting to include ceramics, printmaking, fiber arts, poetry, bookmaking and graphic design.
She was also an entrepreneur, historian, preservationist, tourism promoter, art activist, art therapist and non-profit organizer. Central to her and her artmaking were community, a sense of love and joy deeply connected to the natural world and environment. For Ann, art was an open window into the world of imagination and fantasy, but also a way to claim her identity and reveal her inner self.
She created whimsical abstract fantasies, filled with color, fun and exploration of spirit. As she moved through her career, certain objects, people and animals became pictographs denoting meaning in her own personal language. Horses, cats, fish, a floating woman, moons, suns and open windows are some of these repeated symbols. Her work was imbued with the joyful, the exuberant, the expressive, the emotional and the theatrical.
Art in City Hall is made up of a committee providing leadership and support towards our mission. Working in collaboration with Prospect City Leaders, the AICH (Arts in City Hall) Committee contributes expertise and diverse perspectives to produce Art Exhibitions and Artist Markets to support artists, art admirers, buyers and collectors.
Throughout the year, AICH Committee members contribute their time and expertise to ensure that programs and resources align with the organization’s goals. Through regular meetings and thoughtful engagement, the Committee remains committed to delivering meaningful Art Exhibitions for the City of Prospect.
