Eugenio Cerrosi

Artist Eugenio Cerrosi was born in Brazil to Italian parents and has resided in the United States since 2000. Interestingly, he holds three citizenships—U.S., Brazilian, and Italian. He primarily works with acrylics, oils, and charcoal on canvas in what has been described as Contemporary Figurative Abstract Impressionism with unique depth and movement.

Ying Kit Chan

Ying Kit Chan

Ying Kit Chan is a Chinese American artist and a professor of art at the University of Louisville. His work explores environmental ethics and the relationship between humans and nature. For over forty years, the philosophy of harmony, interconnectivity, and peace deeply influences his artistic practice.

Fong Choo

Fong Choo

Choo has been working in clay since 1984 while in College and went on to earn his Masters in Ceramics at the University of Louisville in 1993. He is currently an adjunct professor / Artist-in-Residence at Bellarmine University and has been there since 1990.

Carlos Gamez de Francisco

Carlos Gamez de Francisco (b. 1987, Holguín, Cuba) lives and works in Fort Myers, FL, and Louisville, KY. He has received numerous awards, including the Key to the City of Louisville from Mayor Greg Fischer; the Museum Guild Purchase Award at the Evansville Museum; the SAIC Distinguished Scholarship at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and the “Dreammakers” Artist-in-Residence at the Muhammad Ali Museum. .

Alexander Rivero Garcia

Alexander Rivero Garcia studied art at the Carlos Enríquez Academy of Visual Arts in Cuba and completed postgraduate studies in art and photography at the University of Oriente in Cuba. He has also taught various art subjects over the years.

Rex Lagerstrom

I got my start in the city of Hiroshima 10 years after the war had ended. I remember my parents being deeply steeped in Japanese culture and traditions as a child. From Japan, we moved to Germany, but my parents still carried with them the traditions that they had been taught in Japan.

Humberto Lahera

Humberto Lahera is a Cuban visual artist based in Louisville, Kentucky. Trained in the academic tradition of the old masters, his work blends photorealism with the freedom of Impressionism and contemporary texture.

Elmer Lopez

Elmer Lopez is a Louisville based Spanish American multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores culture, connection, and the shared experiences that bring people together. Working across drawing, painting, printmaking, and digital media, Lopez combines traditional and contemporary techniques shaped by his experiences studying art in Kentucky, Germany, and China.

Elizabeth Naiditch

Elizabeth was born in Minsk, Belarus, where she developed an early appreciation for art and design. She earned a degree in fashion and textile design from an art institute before beginning a career in display design for major department stores and exhibitions. After relocating to Kentucky, she worked as a floral designer with Korfhage Landscape & Design, combining creativity with her love of nature.

Makara Thach Sernett

Born in 1989 in southern Vietnam, Makara's earliest years were spent in refugee camps due to political and cultural conflict surrounding indigenous Cambodians in Vietnam. She came to America in 1999. Initially aspiring to a career in law, Makara decided instead to pursue her love for painting full time.

Suyun Son

Suyun Son is a Louisville‑based artist. Trained in South Korea (BFA from Seoul Women’s University) and at the University of Louisville (MFA). Her works was recently selected for Ohio Valley Biennial. Her multilingual experience creates art that blends both influences.

Hector Urdaneta

Hector Urdaneta has been an artist since 2008, educated in the Martin Tovar and Tovar school, in Barquisimeto Venezuela. "I had the privileged to be guided and encouraged for many local artists."

Anil Vinayakan

Anil was born in India. He came to the US in 1993 and came to Louisville in 2004 to join as a medical school faculty at the University of Louisville. He started with oil painting and had to switch to acrylic due to solvent allergy and since 2020 has been mostly working in watercolor.

Lena Wolek

I design my ceramics in the Siberian spirit. Growing up on the shores of Lake Baikal, I was fortunate to learn about a balance with nature through creativity and survival skills interwoven into daily life. With humor and joy, I incorporate folk -art -inspired caricatures of everyday life on my pottery.

In the past, Closing Events have offered the community in-depth knowledge about artists, materials, process and the inspiration that drives the creators.  We hope you’ll join us.

PROSPECT, Ky. (September 2026) — Prospect City Hall is pleased to present Global Views: Expanding
Horizons, a new exhibition celebrating the diverse voices and artistic perspectives of fifteen artists whose
multicultural backgrounds enrich their creative work. Each artist brings a unique cultural perspective, offering
visitors an opportunity to experience how heritage, migration, and personal history influence artistic
expression.

Featured artists include Eugenio Cerrusi, Ying Kit Chan, Fong Choo, Carlos Gamez DeFrancisco,
Alexander Rivero Garcia, Rex Lagerstrom, Humberto Lahera, Elmer Lopez, Elizabeth Naiditch, Vishad
Samami, Makara Sernett, Suyun Son, Hector Urdaneta, Anil Vinayakan, and Lena Wolek.

The exhibition will be on view September 26 through December 6, 2026, at Prospect City Hall
